To give you a little background of old fall river road located in Rocky Mountain National Park, it is a gravel road one way, up hill, 11 mile road that takes you to the Alpine visitor center off of Trail Ridge Road. The speed limit is 15 miles an hour and there are no guard rails along this road. The road opened in 1920 and is still loved by everyone today. Eric finds it best to ride along the edge of the road so that you can see the whole canyon below. June loves the view, but is not comfortable along the edge of the road with no guard rail. But for both of us, we find the views spectacular. The road does travel to 11,786 feet above sea level, so your journey does take you into the Alpine. Once above the tree line, the views are spectacular. Above the tree line means, no trees and lots of cool wind. Riding on two small scooters up this route I must say, we do get a lot of looks once we reach the visitor center. The drive is all worth the ride to see such beauty.
